A major in religion/religious education is particularly useful to persons planning to enter the Christian ministry, Christian education, youth work, program coordination, or other church-related vocations. Studies in the major field, along with courses in English, history, philosophy, the social sciences, and various electives, will give the student an excellent background for entrance into a theological seminary or for service in the church and society. Credit Hours: 41 At least one upper-division course (3000-4000) must be completed in each area: biblical studies, history of Christianity, and theology from the list below. Required 18 REL 3813 - Nature and Work of Christian Education REL 4603 - Leadership in Christian Education REL 4633 - The Bible in Christian Education REL 4653 - Theology and Christian Education Choose two of the following: REL 3913 - Ministry with Youth REL 3933 - Ministry with Children and Families REL 3943 - Ministry with Adults VI. INTERNSHIP REL 4981 - Internship in Religion (Junior or senior standing. Taken on a credit/no-credit basis. Should be taken in a two-semester sequence during one academic year.) VII. UNITED METHODIST STUDIES (3) REL 3233 - United Methodist Studies (Required of all United Methodist majors for certification. Other denominations may substitute an elective from Areas IB, II, III or IV in the School of Religion.)

The equivalent of a 3.0 high school grade point average is required for admission into Oklahoma City University's undergraduate programs. Other English Language Requirements: PTE 53, or completion of ELS level 112 is required for most programs.
