The Undergraduate Curriculum is formulated by the General Assembly of the Department. The courses are divided into Compulsory, Compulsory Elective, and Free Elective. Students can therefore create their unique individual study program, being able to choose among several courses per semester, and thus adapt their studies to their specific interests. The compulsory courses of the first four semesters are common for all students (core courses). Students must choose between the Public Institutions and Public Economics Major to follow, from Semester 5. Both majors comprise of Compulsory Elective and Free Elective courses, in the context of each major, that students are free to choose from. The teaching period for each semester is thirteen full weeks. When the teaching period ends, the semester examinations follow. There are three examination periods: the winter semester exams, the spring semester exams and the September re-exams where students can give exams to the courses they have failed thus far. The number of weeks for conducting each exams period is defined in by the University.
Students are awarded their bachelor’s degree after having passed the exact number of courses denoted by the Study Program of the Department. Students are also obliged to successfully complete a number of courses in at least one of the following foreign languages: English, French, German, Italian, unless they have already obtained a degree in a foreign language, in which case they can get an exemption. The final grade of the degree (GPA) is a simple average of the total number of courses the student has passed. The Department also offers a Placement Program that helps our students gain a first experience and develop a first network in the public and private sectors. Also, the Department collaborates with the Erasmus+ Student Exchange Program, where our students can either study in a University or do an internship in a company abroad, in the partner countries of the Program.
