Borovskoy Institute of dentistry carries out educational activities of higher professional education in the specialty 31.05.03 "Dentistry". Fundamentally new in the development of the educational process is the creation of a zone for independent work of students with access to telemedicine conferences, web-seminars and wide involvement of students in conducting research. Currently, about 2000 Russian and foreign students study at the faculty, they are engaged in 43 departments, of the University.
Institute’s mission is to preserve and increase the legacy of the national medical school in the field of dentistry. Based on the University's development strategy, the faculty has identified target areas of development
- become a center for initiating and implementing world-class advanced medical projects in the field of dentistry
- become an international leader in the field of high-tech treatment of dental diseases
- develop a system of individual learning paths with access to the resources of the world’s leading educational institutions
- become a leading domestic and foreign center for research in the field of dentistry
- ensure and support close integration of students in research activities
- increase the amount of extra-budgetary funds raised.
Mission, strategy and outcomes of the Programme:
The education program is focused on training dental doctors able to self-dependent professional practice in dentistry.
Training is practice-oriented and is aimed at formation of common cultural and professional competencies which let carrying out preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation dental procedures, provide psychological, pedagogical, organizational and managerial technologies in healtncare.
Program staffing: doctors and candidates of sciences, academicians of the Russian Academy of Science, leading specialists of healthcare and medical insurance system.
Features of implementation: -
- laboratories, equipped with high-tech equipment,
- interactive study technologies, use of multimedia equipment and internet communication, practical training with the help of simulation technologies as well as in clinics.
Potential and actual business partners: healthcare management bodies of various levels, medical insurance companies, medical and pharmaceutical organizations.
Graduates of the program are in demand in healthcare, medical insurance, social expertise and rehabilitation organizations, public national and international health protection organizations, professional medical; associations, public social protection bodies.
The Program provides possibility to learn one or more additional vocational programs, to get simultaneously a second or continued higher education.
Graduates of the program have the opportunity to easily design their professional career, in particular to study in Residency and for a Ph.D. degree.
Curriculum
The Curriculum of the Programme developed by the University in accordance with the FSES GM requirements and the Professional Standard uses a competence-based approach which determines that upon completion of the Programme graduates shall demonstrate full mastering of all the competencies necessary for successful independent practice as a Physician, M.D. Successful mastering of the Programme supposes consistent passing of disciplines of the Curriculum. The applied teaching methods ensure the process of gradual mastering the curriculum’s disciplines based on the principle of increasing complexity, which makes it possible to effectively develop the necessary competencies among the students. The knowledge and skills acquired within each discipline serve as a basis for the study of subsequent discipline of the curriculum, and also ensure the graduates' readiness for further training, either in residency or at graduate school (PhD). Each discipline involves theoretical component and practical skills training.

To be eligible for undergraduate study at Sechenov University applicants should have completed secondary school education and pass the entrance exams in chemistry and biology. Tuition fees at undergraduate level vary depending on the subject and are between RUB 480,000-530,000 (US$8,420-9,300) per year.

At postgraduate level, Sechenov University offers 70 postgraduate degrees, including three-year clinical residency programs, four-year PhD courses, and one-year internships, fully taught in Russian or English. Available topics include:
To be eligible for postgraduate study, students must have notarized Russian translations of their diplomas, transcripts, passports, as well as their CV, a teacher reference, 12 matte-passport sized photos and an HIV-negative test. Postgraduate tuition fees range depending on the degree level and subject and go up to RUB 320,000 (US$5,600) a year.
