Fire engineers specialise in the application of science and engineering principles to protect people and their environment from destructive fire. The Master of Engineering in Fire Engineering is open to graduates from relevant branches of engineering, and covers all aspects of fire safety in buildings and other structures, human safety, and risk assessment. Some courses are offered in blocks and online learning software allows for flexible programmes of study. You will also complete a thesis or project. You will normally need to have completed one of the following:
  • Bachelor of Engineering with Honours with First or Second Class Honours
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering with a GPA of 5 or more
  • Bachelor of Science with Honours in appropriate subjects.

You must have completed both the academic and non-academic requirements of your prerequisite degree. This includes practical work days, work reports, a workshop training course, and a first aid certificate. The programme of study must be approved.
