The University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of History and Ethnology provides possibilities to acquaint scientific (PhD degree) qualification in the area of two disciplines in Humanities. The History Programme and the Ethnology Programme endeavour to support students to extend their research activities, to establish a stable and professional background to the young researchers in order to obtain success in their own research field. In the frame of the History Programme students have options to getting knowledge and doing research in the area of the Hungarian and world history, social and economy history, history of political ideas and institutions, ancient history and arts. Additionally the structure of the Ethnology Programme ensure learning and research possibilities in cultural ecology and anthropology, religion history, peoples, regions and cultures in Middle-Europe. The Doctoral School of History and Ethnology does not require special degree for the application. It means that we accept not just History (MA) and Ethnology (MA) degree, but all kind of degrees which orientated or connected to the chosen research filed. We grant the opportunity to the applicant to ask an external supervisor.
