The Master of Dentistry in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is four years in length, including a four-year hospital residency, for which a postgraduate training certificate is awarded. The program has full accreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.The primary objective of the program is to train dentists to become competent, ethical Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons for practice in Canada, and to provide them with a scientifically based curriculum which will prepare them for the challenges they will face in the development of their speciality, throughout their professional careers. The clinical program provides comprehensive training in all the major areas generally included within the scope of practice of an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Students are provided with opportunities to attend and present papers at National and International conferences related to aspects of their speciality and an external elective rotation is permitted subject to approval of the Program Director.
