The BSS (Honors) program in Economics is spread over 4 years duration divided into 8 semesters. Each semester shall be of 26 weeks of which 14 weeks for class teaching, 2 weeks for class tests/assessments/midterm/quizzes/oral tests, 2 weeks for preparatory leave, 2-4 weeks for holding the semester final exam, and 2-4 weeks for publication of results. The program includes theoretical/taught course units, fieldwork, research monograph, and viva voce. The total number of courses is 46 in addition to fieldwork, research monograph, and viva voce. The total credit for the whole program is 148. During the degree students will learn (1) economic theories, principles, and analytical approaches; (2) critical thinking about the economic interconnectedness of real-world issues; (3) development and policy issues; (4) multidisciplinary areas of social science; and (5) qualitative and quantitative research skills. The aim of the degree is to produce high-quality graduates who will be (1) successful in their academic and professional careers; (2) competent in analyzing policy-making issues; (3) capable of drawing real-life implications of economic theories; (4) excel in entrepreneurial skills; and (5) ready to take up developmental challenges at the grassroots level.

Entry Requirement for International Students

Requirements for Undergraduate Program (Admission year 2023-2024)

(a) Applicants have standard twelve years of formal education outside of Bangladesh;

 (b) Students passed the standard School/ Higher School Certificate/ ‘O’ Level examinations having at least 60% marks in traditional system or grade B in grading system;

 (c) Have to apply for admission within two years from the date of completion of the standard twelve years education;

 (d) Applicants need to fulfill the other eligibility criteria as set by the respective Faculty of the University of Rajshahi.
