These changes include escalating energy demand, constraints on supplies, impacts on energy mix, introduction of smart grids, fluctuating energy prices, regulatory pressures to reduce carbon emissions and to promote sustainability, increased integration of renewable energy sources, and changing demographics and patterns of energy use and supply.
The course covers areas of particular strengths of the Department of Economics, with a focus on energy and climate change. Through the Fraser of Allander Institute, the department also boasts research expertise in applying economic knowledge in the policy field.
