The Bachelor’s programme in Political Science is a four-year undergraduate degree designed to provide students with a systematic understanding of political science, governance, and contemporary political processes through empirical, analytical, and research-based approaches. The programme equips students with the tools to analyse, collect, classify, and interpret political, social, and historical sources, including academic and professional texts published in multiple languages.

The curriculum combines the study of political theory, public governance, political institutions, political processes, and international affairs with a strong emphasis on critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and academic research. Students develop knowledge of how political systems function, how political institutions and organisations operate, and how political norms, traditions, ideas, and interests shape public life at the national and international levels.

A distinctive feature of the programme is its focus on international political processes and the foreign policy context of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to study Uzbekistan’s role in international relations and to understand the political, social, and strategic factors that influence its position in the world community. The programme therefore prepares graduates to contribute to the further strengthening and protection of the country’s interests in the international arena.

The programme is delivered in a multilingual academic environment and offers instruction in Uzbek, Russian, and English. In addition, students have the opportunity to study four languages over four years: Uzbek, Russian, English, and one additional international language offered through the university’s language centre. This strengthens graduates’ ability to work in multicultural, multilingual, and internationally oriented professional settings.

Graduates are prepared for careers in public administration, diplomatic service, international organisations, policy analysis, research institutions, and other fields related to political and international affairs. Potential areas of professional activity include state bodies engaged in foreign policy, diplomatic missions and consular institutions, international departments of ministries and other public authorities, and representative offices of Uzbekistan in international organisations.

The programme is offered within the School of International Relations, whose interdisciplinary curriculum combines political analysis, diplomacy, foreign policy, international security, regional studies, public policy, and contemporary political processes. Students benefit from the guidance of experienced academics from Uzbekistan and international experts from leading universities and research centres. Guest lectures by ambassadors, public officials, economists, and public figures further enrich the learning experience with practical perspectives.

Graduates of the School serve in the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions, international organisations, and leading policy and research centres in Uzbekistan and abroad.
