On this Classics program, students will travel back in time to ancient Greece and Rome by studying how art, architecture, mythology, history, science, philosophy, and the language of the time have shaped what today’s civilization now understand as the modern Western world. This program uses literature and archaeology as guides to learn about ancient civilizations. There are two approaches to the study of classical antiquity at UNB. For students intending to pursue the study of ancient Greece and Rome at a graduate level, UNB offers a program focusing on ancient Greek and Latin languages, and a critical knowledge of the works of ancient authors in their original languages. For students planning to enter professional roles after the BA, UNB offers a program of humanities courses, which include: history, mythology, philosophy, and art history. In either stream, students are invited to enrol in courses in archaeology.
