Our MSc Information Management and Business Technology has been designed with partners from industry to produce graduates who understand the professional, managerial and technical dimensions of information management and business technology. It is ideal for graduates who would like a career in IT service management, business and media analytics, big data and competitive intelligence.
Information management is a critical success factor affecting almost any organisation. In today's digital age, the speedy and accurate sharing of the right information to the right people is essential for success. It is an aspect of business management that cuts across business functions and has multiple implications for the challenges facing organisations today, from harnessing big data to managing employees and complying with data protection legislation.
Our MSc Information Management and Business Technology programme will enable you to develop the key skills that employers value, including managing business relationships, IT systems, data science and information architecture. It includes practical modules in coding that teach you to use Python programming and sentiment analysis, among other valuable data analysis tools.
This programme is designed to develop you into a hybrid manager who is able to bridge the gap between technical and managerial perspectives and is equipped with the technical, professional and management knowledge and skills needed by employers. You will explore the principles and practice of information and business technology management, along with the relationship between traditionally technology independent areas of an organisation and non-technical business areas.
You will be taught by experts in information management who ensure that all teaching is informed by the latest commercial best practice and academic research. We take pride in teaching you how relevant and inspiring research can be used in practice to solve real world problems. The use of guest lecturers from industry (recent examples include IBM and Rolls Royce) and not-for-profit organisations helps to embed this real world perspective. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on lots of interactive group challenges that simulate working on real-world organisational problems around the world.
The programme is suitable for those who are new to the subject, as well as those who have already gained a grounding in the basics of IT or management subjects. Working professionals wishing to study the programme part-time or to take individual modules for continuing professional development (CPD) are invited to discuss their requirements with the Programme Director.
