The school which offers Diplomacy and Policy of Foreign States program is the oldest one at MGIMO. Founded in 1943, it is the first specialized school of international relations in Eurasia. The approaches and teaching methods that have been developed over these years form the core of our training standard. The hallmark of a graduate of the School of International Relations is fluency in two foreign languages. Although undergraduate students do not receive a degree in translation or linguistics, their proficiency in most cases is not only on par with that of the linguistic universities’ graduates, but even better when it comes to complex political negotiations, public speeches in host countries, or interactions with the media.
