Department of Computer Science and Engineering has been playing an important role in the functioning of the university with a good reputation and has been retaining its position as one of the leading departments of the university since its establishment in the year 1995.
The department has by now established itself as a noteworthy center of education and training through its Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering program. With near about 2458 graduates up to the Spring-2019 semester, the department has frequent occasions for celebration and feeling proud of many of its’ graduates complete their postgraduate studies with brilliant performances at well-reputed national and foreign universities and are employed in prestigious institutions and organizations in the country and overseas.
The department has six computer labs and one digital electronics lab of its own which are equipped with state-of-the-art computers and experimental setups. Yearly intake to the department in two semesters is around 250 students. A good number of young and energetic full-time faculty members with the best available exposure to the ever-growing horizon of the field bear almost the whole of the teaching load of our intensive curriculum. Besides, a number of experienced teachers from other universities and industrial establishments are appointed in each semester to conduct some specialized courses.
Various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to develop important professional and social faculties in the students also stand firmly in the activities list of the department every semester. The most common activities are programming and ICT contests, indoor and outdoor games, reception parties to fresh and farewell parties to outgoing students, etc. The performance of our students in various national contests on co-curricular activities is noteworthy.
