What are the QS Europe Rankings?

One of several regional rankings published by QS, the QS Europe Rankings assess institutions by a range of indicators that differ slightly from those used to compile the overall QS World University Rankings.

This difference is to allow students and institutions to more easily make direct comparisons within the region.

Different indicators include:

  • ‘Citations per Paper’ and ‘Papers per Faculty’: These indicators are separated from the broader ‘Citations per faculty’ indicator to better represent Europe's high proportion of research-oriented institutions.
  • ‘International Student Diversity': This replaces International Student Ratio to better reflect the robust data on diversity and the wider range of international students at European universities.
  • Inbound and Outbound Exchange Student Ratios

How should I use the QS Europe Rankings?

If you’re researching possible study destinations, rankings are a great way to start building an initial shortlist.

As well as using the QS World University Rankings, consider using the QS Europe Rankings if you have already narrowed down your study destination to somewhere in Europe.

Separate tables are also provided for the different sub-regions (Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Northern Europe and Western Asia) within the overall table, allowing for even greater specificity in terms of study destination.

What’s it like to study at the top university in Hungary?

Eötvös Loránd University combines the benefits of a modern university with the traditions of an institution that has existed in some form for nearly 400 years.

Having operated under its current name since the 1950s, the university has grown to encompass nine faculties:

  • Economics
  • Natural Sciences
  • Informatics
  • Law and Political Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Social Sciences
  • Education and Psychology
  • Elementary and Nursery School Teacher Training
  • Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Education

The university has consistently scored well in QS rankings for the strength of its international research network as well as the employment outcomes for its graduates.

It also appears in the QS World University Rankings by Subject for over a dozen subjects, including chemistry, medicine, mathematics and biological sciences.
