Hungary’s top universities perform well in QS Europe Rankings

One of several regional rankings published by QS, the QS Europe Rankings assess institutions by a range of indicators that differ slightly from those used to compile the overall QS World University Rankings. 

This difference is to allow students and institutions to more easily make direct comparisons within the region. 

Different indicators include:  

• ‘Citations per Paper’ and ‘Papers per Faculty’: These indicators are separated from the broader ‘Citations per faculty’ indicator to better represent Europe's high proportion of research-oriented institutions.  
• ‘International Student Diversity': This replaces International Student Ratio to better reflect the robust data on diversity and the wider range of international students at European universities. 
• Inbound and Outbound Exchange Student Ratios

If you’re researching possible study destinations, rankings are a great way to start building an initial shortlist.  

As well as using the QS World University Rankings, consider using the QS Europe Rankings if you have already narrowed down your study destination to somewhere in Europe.  

Separate tables are also provided for the different sub-regions (Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Northern Europe and Western Asia) within the overall table, allowing for even greater specificity in terms of study destination.

University of Pecs 

• Best indicator score in QS Europe rankings: International Student Diversity 
• One of Hungary’s largest higher education institutions, with a history dating back to 1367 
• Best performance in QS World University Rankings by Subject: Petroleum Engineering 

Széchenyi István University (University of Győr) 

• Best indicator score in QS Europe rankings: Sustainability 
• Offers more than 60 English-taught programmes across all academic levels 
• Climbed nearly 200 places in the QS Sustainability Rankings in last three years 

Obuda University 

• Best indicator score in QS Europe rankings: Sustainability 
• High-quality teaching across seven faculties, including engineering, informatics, science, and economics 
• Best performance in QS World University Rankings by Subject: Computer Science and Information Systems 

MATE Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences 

• Best indicator score in QS Europe rankings: Sustainability
