When choosing a university there are many factors to consider, including: location, course content, accommodation, cost and student support. However, one aspect of university life that tends to get overlooked when deciding on a university is the student facilities.

Facilities vary across universities, so it’s often a good idea to visit the school in person to get a feel for the campus and a tour of the facilities.

The University of Lima in Peru has opened a brand-new Recreation, Wellness and Student Life Centre (CBU), a 16,000 sq/m area on campus, which will be a hub for social life and recreation.

You’ll be spending a lot of time on campus, so it’s important to have a space where you feel comfortable, whether you’re unwinding after lectures, or working on a group project with your classmates.

At the University of Lima’s new CBU, there are group study rooms; patios with tables and chairs and an atrium that connects to the upper levels, as well as televisions and giant screens. Students can also enjoy the terrace, movie and video game rooms and an informal meeting area which is great for chatting with friends.

If you get hungry, you can make use of the new dining hall, with various food establishments to choose from.

They can encourage you to get active

If your university’s sports facilities feel old and uninspiring, you won’t feel encouraged to go. That’s why the University of Lima has introduced a new gymnasium and fitness area with everything you could possibly need to help you get active.

At the University of Lima’s new gym you will find:

Weights areas
Cardiovascular workout areas
Climbing walls for bouldering
Multipurpose coliseum for futsal, volleyball and basketball (which can also be used for conferences and graduations)
Yoga and dance studios
Jogging track which crosses indoor and outdoor environments

In addition to all of this, you will also get access to dressing rooms and showers to prepare you for the rest of the day.

Look after your mental wellbeing

It’s not just your physical health which is important. That’s why it’s important to take advantage of the mental health and wellbeing services offered by your university.

At the University of Lima, students can benefit from a Student affairs Office, social services, the employability centre and safety department. The centre includes nutrition, counselling and physical therapy, ensuring students can get the support they need.

Having dedicated buildings for student activities can transform the university into a great place to host exciting events for students.

The University of Lima’s Recreation, Wellness and Student Life Centre has a multi-purpose hall which has capacity for 90 people. Here, it is possible to hold presentations, conferences, concerts, dance performances, poetry recitals, improv performances or plays.

Additionally, the informal recreation space inside the CBU’s gym can double as an event space for up to 600 people.

The University of Lima is dedicated to sustainability, which is why the Recreation, Wellness and Student Life Centre is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified. During the design and construction phase of the building, the VDC and BIM methodologies were used, which promote the development of efficient and safe processes, leading to cost and time savings.
