HTU is inspired by the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince
Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II to serve Jordanian youth with quality and relevant
education. It aims to foster market-driven technical education in engineering
and computer science;
student-centred teaching philosophy, internationally accredited
unique and relevant degree programs, one year on job training, and state of the
art laboratories represent the main features of HTU.
New Technical Education
HTU is meant to be the first of its kind in the region, as a
disruptive technical university built on Jordan’s strong tradition of academic
achievement and long heritage of openness, inclusiveness, and mutual
cooperation. Its primary focus is training students in technical education and
promoting the values of strong work ethics, professionalism, and a sense of
social, global, and civic responsibility.
Since its inception in 2016, HTU has responded to the
unemployment challenges of youth by offering not only quality and relevant
(technical and vocational education) to its students, but also to graduates
from other universities in Jordan through skill advancement training and
entrepreneurial activities. Established as a private non-profit technical
university, HTU is located at the King Hussein Business Park - a prestigious
location for world leading businesses, and start-ups.
HTU has a unique educational model that advocates STEM education
through
interdisciplinary and industry-based learning. It offers a
variety of applied engineering and technology programmes with flexible and
dynamic curricula that are relevant to the market needs. The main objective is
to prepare a generation of highly qualified technical and vocational
professionals, in alignment with the National Strategy for Human Resource
Development (HRD) of Jordan 2025, and the UN sustainable development agenda
2030.
Schools and degree programs
Through its three main schools: School of Engineering
Technology, School of Construction and the Built Environment, and School of
Computing and Informatics. HTU offers seven engineering and computer science
degree programmes at both the technical and bachelor levels with a total
student enrolment of 500 where students learn intensive programming and use
advanced software applications, including C, Python, Java, 3D printing, and 2D/
3D
AutoCAD.
HTU adopts a progression model which gives
students the flexibility to select their major and develop their qualifications
according to their desired level of attainment. HTU offers three qualifications
across all its degree programs, namely BTEC Higher National Certificate, BTEC Higher
National Diploma and HTU Bachelor
degree. The BTEC qualifications are accredited and assured by Pearson.
