The programme prepares candidates for the international academic job market, for positions in research organisations and consulting firms, as well as national and international institutions like central banks, the IMF and the World Bank.   • Candidates are encouraged to make a long-term visit to a foreign university that is part of the Department's international network. Recent PhD students have visited Northwestern University, UC Berkeley, Princeton, Yale, Brown, UC San Diego, among others.
  • The Nordic Network in Economics offers a wide range of advanced PhD courses in Economics

  • have at least five years of higher education
  • hold a two year scientific Master's degree (MSc) (120 ECTS) or equivalent with B average or better
  • hold a Master's degree that includes thesis work (15 to 30 ECTS)
  • hold a Master's degree within the fields of economics and business administration or an area in which BI offers a PhD specialisation
  • hold degree(s) from an accredited institution or an institution recognised by NOKUT
