Canadian Studies is offered as a combined major. As a Canadian Studies co-major, students will confront the intersection of Canada’s rich history with culture, cultural policy, politics, economics and geography. Areas of concentration are available in Canadian Cultural Texts and Practices, Canadian Society and Politics, or Francophone Canada: Language and Culture. Undergraduates are also required to take core interdisciplinary courses offered by the Canadian Studies program itself. The program reflects on how we create meaning for the nation across time and space, among the social relationships and institutions, within and beyond their cultural and territorial boundaries, and through a variety of disciplinary perspectives. The aim of this program is to help students understand perceptions of Canada through intensive engagement with Canadian histories, texts and practices.
