If you’re passionate about making a difference, understanding human behaviour, and contributing to a safer society, this is the course that can turn your curiosity into a powerful career.
This course takes a well-rounded and holistic approach to criminology and forensic studies, combining both specialist areas in a theoretical and hands-on approach. Throughout your time on the course, you’ll develop both the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this sector, you’ll master the art of collection and preserving of forensic evidence and reporting and analysing the information for practical application in court, prison services and other areas.
You’ll also delve into current issues and challenges faced in this sector, all of which are discussed within a scientific and evidence-based framework with a focus on applied actions and potential solutions. Criminological theories are therefore applied to potential practice scenarios throughout the degree, which you may encounter throughout the course of your career.
Our forensic modules cover crime scene investigation, including scene searching, evidence recovery and chain of evidence, as well as delving into the methods and processes used by forensic practitioners when examining crime scene exhibits for forensic evidence. We cover fingerprint recovery, the fundamentals of DNA profiling and the examination of trace evidence. You'll develop practical skills through simulated investigations, guided by experienced professionals from the field.
Your teaching team is also made up of industry-experts with a wealth of experience, meaning upon graduating from this degree you’ll have all the insights employers look for.
Due to the nature of the subject of the course, some days may be emotionally demanding, which makes having a supportive environment essential. At BNU, we foster a close-knit, encouraging community where you can turn to both your peers and our dedicated teaching staff for support and reassurance through shared and individual challenges.
