Frequently Asked Questions
There are so many, including top-notch teaching and research, eminently affordable tuition fees (see the relevant FAQ below for details), a markedly global and globally-minded attitude and being located in the incomparable city of Venice. Read all about them here: www.unive.it/10goodreasons.
Being based in the historic centre of Venice, Ca’ Foscari offers the opportunity to study and carry out research in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. As you surely know, Venice is a very unique place. While it allows you to do the typical things you might expect – like wandering for hours and enjoying getting lost in its beauty – but it is also what you may not imagine: a place where student life spills into every public space and cultural engagement is around every corner. Venice also positions you at the heart of Europe, making it an easy and affordable jumping-off point for exploring the rest of Italy and beyond.
Ca’ Foscari is a public, federally subsidized institution that prioritizes internationalisation and assuring affordable access to university education for everyone, even students coming from abroad.
Students from Italy or European Union/Schengen Area countries pay maximum tuition fees of around 2,400 euro per year for most bachelor’s degrees and around 2,600 euro per year for master’s degrees.
Students from other parts of the world, depending on their nationality, pay less than this, sometimes as little as 700 euros per year. To learn about how much your tuition fees will be, explore Ca’ Foscari’s online application platform apply.unive.it.
To make choosing Ca’ Foscari even more manageable for high-achieving international students, the university offers renewable merit-based scholarships dedicated to international bachelor’s and master’s students. There are also additional national scholarship programmes for master’s students. Read all about these opportunities here: https://www.unive.it/scholarships.
Studying the humanities at Ca’ Foscari is a particularly rich experience that unfolds against the backdrop of a city whose tangible and intangible cultural heritage have made it a UNESCO heritage site. Whether you are interested in history or archaeology, classics or anthropology, philosophy or art history – almost all fields in which Ca’ Foscari is world-ranked – the university explores all of these and more. But at Ca’ Foscari the humanities are also infused with a sense of innovation, with various minors and study programmes exploring the humanities through different eyes and in new guises, especially the fields of the digital and public humanities and environmental humanities.
At Ca’ Foscari we believe that a university education needs to be international. This is why we offer a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes completely taught in English, which are popular with both international students and Italian students interested in a markedly international classroom experience. At the same time, to make sure you take full advantage of everything Italy has to offer, English-taught programmes include an Italian course to get you started on learning the local language.
European and non-European students with an international qualification who wish to enrol in a bachelor's or master's degree programme at Ca' Foscari apply for admission via the online platform apply.unive.it.
After uploading the required documentation and completing the procedure, additional information and the outcome of the application will be communicated via email.
