Law 34/2006, of October 30, regulating access to the professions of lawyer and court attorney, introduced in our legal system the requirement of professional training in addition to university training before enrolling in the corresponding professional association.
This additional training will consist of taking an entrance exam (qualification exam), after passing 60 ECTS credits from training courses accredited by the Ministry of Justice and 30 ECTS credits from supervised internships.
With a view to adapting to the new regulatory framework for the teaching of law and preparation for the practice of the legal profession, the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU offers this additional training required by law as a professionalizing master's degree, integrating within theoretical teaching both the subjects directly related to the exercise of the profession and the transversal subjects of special importance (such as ethics, negotiation and training in the values of equality and respect for human rights).
The master's degree gives personalized access to the online Legal Quiz from the legal publisher Lefebvre, with access to a database of more than 1,500 questions adapted to the format of the exam for access to the legal profession. In addition, it gives access to the memento of professional practice of law and access to the law.
The phenomenon of Europeanization and globalization has led to the expansion of business and other activities beyond national borders. The evolution of new technologies and digitization have further fueled this trend. Furthermore, even within our borders, a good lawyer requires in-depth knowledge of European Union and international law.
For all these reasons, there has been an increase in the demand for legal advisers and professionals who not only know national law, but also have specialized knowledge of European and international law and know how to function in these environments.
