The program aims to prepare competitive specialists with appropriate knowledge, skills and values, corresponding to the requirements of the local and international labor market, who possess:

•             up-to-date knowledge of psychology as a science, history of development, main theoretical currents and empirical findings;

•             based on the instructions of the supervisor, an ability understand general research methods of psychology as a science and to apply them according to the academic and ethical standards of research; an ability to develop an appropriate research design, analyze data and interpret results.

•             important abilities necessary for the 21st century, such as cooperation, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking,  and problem-solving.

The program entails 240 credits consisting of courses in the major field, as well as courses oriented on developing general, transferable skills.

The program prepares professionals to be employed in education, penitentiary, defense, healthcare and other systems; in private and non-governmental sector, media and international funds, research organizations, and others.

After the completion of the program, the graduate may take up the position of a psychologist in any of the above-mentioned institutions (including: the position of a school psychologist, a psychologist at the law enforcement service, a psychologist at a day center, etc.). A graduate of the program can also be employed as an inclusive education specialist, therapist (behavioral, academic, sensory, speech and other specialized), researcher, trainer, consultant in various specialized fields.

Admission Requirements

The eligibility criteria for the admission to the bachelor program in psychology are defined as follows: an entrant must be in possession of a document certifying the completion of full general education or its equivalent and should obtain the right to study at the European University based on the ranking coefficients of scores received at the Unified National Exams. To be enrolled in the program, a person is obliged to pass the following subjects at the Unified National Exams: a) Georgian language and literature; b) one of the foreign languages (English, Russian, German, or French); c) one of the following subjects: history/mathematics/biology. The number of positions for each course (history/mathematics/biology) should not be less than 10 % of the positions announced for the program. The head of the program determines the exact percentage distribution before announcing the call.

The right to study in the program without passing the Unified National Exams: persons have the right to be enrolled on the university without passing the Unified National Exams based on the Order N224/ნ, dated December 29, 2011, of the Science and Education Minister of Georgia “On the Approval of the Procedure for Submission and Review of Documents by Entrants/Master’s Degree Candidates/Students who have the Right to Study Without Passing the Unified National Exams/Common Master’s Exams in a Higher Educational Institution”. These persons are obliged to confirm the B2 level of Georgian in accordance with the “Rule for Determining the Language Competence of the Student of the European University”. The following persons can also be enrolled in the program: students enrolled in accordance with the mobility rules based on the order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia №10/N (February 4, 2010) - “Rules for Transfer from the Higher Education Institution to Other Higher Education Institution and Approval of Fees”.
