The aim of the programme is to cultivate and enhance students’ competence in applying Chinese medicine theories and methods in clinical practice as well as in the research and development of Chinese medicine. Through taking the programme, students’ abilities to comprehend and master the theoretical knowledge of Chinese medicine will be strengthened. With a co-ordinated approach of teaching the knowledge of various Chinese medicine specialties and the exposure to the latest advancement of research in Chinese medicine, the programme will further enhance the abilities and standards of the students in the application of Chinese medicine theories in clinical practice and in the research and development of Chinese medicine. In addition to a number of common courses, students are required to choose a specialized area of studies, known as the concentration courses. They have to choose one out of the three concentrations: (1) Studies and Applications of Internal Chinese Medicine (ICM); (2) Studies and Applications of Acupuncture (ACU); and (3) Studies and Applications of Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Tui Na (OT). Upon completion of the programme, students of ICM, ACU and OT will have enhanced their abilities in medical diagnosis and treatment, and are expected to apply their knowledge and techniques skillfully in clinical practice. After all, the programme will train a group of quality personnel in medical and healthcare services, as well as in research and technological development of Chinese medicine.

A bachelor of Chinese Medicine or Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine degree; OR Equivalent qualifications in Chinese medicine or Chinese pharmacy; OR Be registered Chinese medicine practitioners in Hong Kong who have passed the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination; OR Be registered Chinese medicine practitioners in Hong Kong with provision of training certificate in Chinese medicine or relevant disciplines and passed the admission assessment to be conducted by the School of Chinese Medicine, HKBU. Applicants must have: obtained a bachelor's degree with Chinese language as the primary medium of instruction in the major courses; OR obtained Grade E or above in Chinese Language and Culture in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination; OR obtained Level 3 or above in Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE); OR passed the Chinese language test arranged by the School of Chinese Medicine, HKBU.
