Marine science is the interdisciplinary study of the oceans, estuaries, and inland seas of the world. The Department of Biology and Marine Science has a working wet lab with an aeration system, numerous aquaria and facilities to maintain various marine and freshwater organisms. Students must have high school transcripts showing a minimum of two years at an English speaking institution and demonstrating significant language achievement through rigorous coursework; transcripts showing the completion of an ESL (English as a Second Language) program at a regionally accredited college or university and the completion of a course in English Composition equivalent to ENGL 101 with a grade of C or higher; transcripts showing 24 or more college-level credits with a C average or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. Other English Language Requirements Students whose first language is not English may demonstrate proficiency by submitting original copies of score reports, certificates or transcripts of one of the following: The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of either 540 on the paper-based exam; PTE Academic with a minimum score of 52; a critical reading score on the SAT of 480 or higher; a EBRW score on the new SAT of 500 or higher; Reading and writing scores of 20 or higher on the ACT.
