On this course you’ll explore ideas, tells stories, and sparks connections. This degree helps you grow as a creative, socially aware practitioner, ready to produce work that matters.

You’ll explore photography as storytelling, collaboration, art, and commercial practice. By creating and experimenting, you’ll learn through making – discovering how photography can express ideas, tackle ethics, and respond to cultural and social issues. With free access to professional studios, darkrooms, Mac suites, equipment, and software, you’ll have the tools to develop your skills and push your ideas further.

Community and collaboration are central to the course. You’ll create and curate exhibitions in our on-campus Brownberrie Gallery, and work with organisations such as the National Science and Media Museum, Impressions Gallery, and regional museums and galleries. Placements and live briefs also give you hands-on, real-world experience.

You’ll be taught by professional photographers and researchers with diverse experience across the arts, commercial sectors, and socially engaged practice.

When you graduate, you’ll have a portfolio that is creative, ambitious, and relevant – work that can open doors in the creative industries and spark conversations beyond them.

Specialist facilities

You’ll have access to industry-standard spaces and equipment including production rooms, Mac and PC editing suites and TV, radio and photography studios. These specialist facilities will enable you to develop your practical and technical skills, produce a portfolio of professional work across different media platforms and prepare you for your graduate career in the industry.
