Including subjects which range from Chinese literature to professional writing, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Chinese provides opportunities for students to learn, understand and appreciate Chinese literature and Chinese language that will develop their literary tastes and critical thinking skills, while also broadening their horizons.

In this respect, there is particular focus on enhancing each student’s Chinese language proficiency, developing research abilities, and honing media writing skills.

Wide array of flexible course options

Besides compulsory courses, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Chinese has a wide range of electives. These are grouped under different categories: Classical Chinese Literature, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Chinese Language, and Chinese Writing. Most students find the latter category very practical since its electives on Creative Writing in Chinese, News Writing and Media Writing are particularly career-oriented.
