Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU), named after the great national leader Majlum Jananeta Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, is a dynamic public university of Bangladesh committed to excellence in science, technology, and innovation. Established on 12 October 1999 and commencing its academic journey on 16 October 2003, MBSTU is located in Santosh, Tangail, approximately 75 kilometres northwest of Dhaka. MBSTU comprises several faculties and departments under the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Life Science, Faculty of Business Studies, and Faculty of Social Science. Nearly 50% of the faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees from renowned foreign universities, and a number of foreign adjunct professors are actively engaged in teaching and collaborative research across different departments.
The university has made impressive strides in national and international rankings. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, MBSTU ranked 746th globally in Research Quality, 2nd among Science and Technology Universities, and 12th nationally, placing within the 1201–1500 global band overall. It also holds the 3rd position in Bangladesh according to the Scimago Institutions Ranking.
MBSTU has demonstrated outstanding success in research funding and collaboration, receiving over 10 Crore BDT through HEAT grants and an additional 10 Crore BDT in industry and joint research grants. The university’s research output and Scopus-indexed publications have grown significantly, driven by strong partnerships with industries, NGOs, and international institutions.
The university’s alumni community has also brought global recognition to MBSTU, with alumni serving in leading multinational companies such as Google, Amazon, Booking.com, and Grab, and working as faculty members and researchers in top universities across Australia, the USA, and Europe.
