First-cycle studies in nursing are full-time studies with a practical profile. The educational concept places particular emphasis on students acquiring practical skills and social competences in relation to learning outcomes in theoretical knowledge, which take into account physiology and the most common human health problems in all stages of life, as well as the principles of prevention and health promotion.
During the classes, students acquire up-to-date knowledge in the field of general medicine and nursing in a practical dimension, and learn about the specifics of working in healthcare facilities. Nursing students acquire general knowledge in the field of medical sciences and health sciences, as well as specific knowledge in the field of nursing, and skills in: – providing services in the field of health promotion, health maintenance, and disease prevention, – providing services in the field of health promotion and disease prevention, – providing first aid and taking rescue measures as part of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, – recognizing health problems and determining priorities in nursing care, – independently organizing, planning, and providing comprehensive and individualized nursing care for sick, disabled, and dying people, using current medical knowledge, – independently providing preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services (within the scope specified in the regulations), – deciding on the type and scope of care and nursing services, – cooperating with the patient's family or guardian in achieving the established nursing care goals and conducting educational activities, – conducting a subjective and objective examination in order to make a nursing diagnosis, – issuing prescriptions for medicines, foodstuffs for special nutritional purposes, and medical devices necessary for the continuation of treatment as part of the implementation of medical orders, – analyzing the quality of nursing care, – organizing their own work and cooperation with the healthcare team.
The studies are conducted in accordance with the educational standards applicable in EU countries. For each semester completed, students receive ECTS points, which enable them to continue their studies at other European universities under the Erasmus program. Nursing students can also undertake semester and summer internships at EU University Hospitals as part of a bilateral exchange under the LLP program.
Nursing students can develop their scientific potential through active participation in research clubs, conducting scientific research, writing articles, publishing them in nursing journals, and presenting their results at symposia and conferences.
Nursing students have the opportunity to master a foreign language at the B2 level of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and specialized nursing terminology. Graduates possess the following skills: using up-to-date knowledge to ensure safety and a high level of care, providing services in the field of health promotion, health maintenance, and disease prevention, providing comprehensive and individualized care for disabled and dying patients, communicating effectively and empathetically in clinical situations, organizing their own work, establishing cooperation in healthcare teams, and initiating and supporting local community health activities. Graduates are prepared to practice independently and to work in public and private healthcare facilities, including: – hospitals, – private and public rehabilitation centers, – clinics, – healthcare facilities (geriatric), – providing comprehensive and individualized care for the sick, disabled, and dying, – state and local government offices and institutions operating in the field of nursing and healthcare, – health resorts, – research institutions and research and development centers, – institutions involved in counseling and dissemination of knowledge in the field of medical sciences, – primary health care facilities, – nursing and care facilities, – palliative and hospice care centers, – social care homes

Graduates are prepared to undertake second-cycle studies. Completion of the program entitles graduates to practice as nurses in Poland and other EU countries.
