National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) was formally established in February 2021, merging top tier Taiwan universities, National Yang Ming University and National Chiao Tung University. This integration combines Yang Ming’s biomedical research focus and Chiao Tung’s electronic communication research to bring forth a novel disciplinary domain of teaching and pioneer the future of research and innovation. 
This merger will develop into an innovative university that is second to none, with 1,400 teachers and 17,000 students collaborating to develop and further Taiwan’s emerging smart medical industry.  
NYCU’s mission is to establish Taiwan’s most innovative smart medical research, in particular the development of a common language for disseminating cutting edge information via in-depth communication between medical experts. They will combine the strengths of Yang Ming and Chiao Tung to jointly develop medical applications in terms of AI, telemedicine, medical robots, Internet of Things, wearable devices and blockchain biomedical as an eco-system, amongst other developments.

NYCU has six campuses, including Guangfu Campus, Yangming Campus, Boai Campus, Liujia Campus, Gueiren Campus and Beimen Campus.

NYCU aims to enhance their level of teaching and research through the merging of their universities. Specifically, in the next two decades they aim to establish themselves as the world’s leading hub for education and research for a smart and healthy life. Their motto is to ‘absorb the new to look far ahead, and work pragmatically’ and ‘benevolent mind and art, putting knowledge into practice’. 
Their Office of Student Affairs provides comprehensive guidance and care for students, and encourages participation in clubs and other extracurricular activities. This includes establishing cooperative relationships of mutual benefit and mutual assistance in the local area to train students to become leaders within physical and mental health and give a sense of social responsibility, humanistic care and international outlook. 
NYCU has a variety of alumni support and services which are divided across their campuses.
