Bachelor of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies

Approved by the American Bar Association, the paralegal studies degree prepares you to support the research and work-related needs of lawyers. You'll gain a comprehensive appreciation of the U.S. legal system and be ready to become a paralegal. What you'll study: Build your knowledge base of law with specific emphasis on torts, contracts, wills and trusts, civil procedure, litigation, family law, business organizations, real estate, and criminal law. You'll learn to prepare legal documents of high professional standards and conduct research to evaluate complex issues. Participate in a mock trial team and meet judges and legal analysts visiting campus. As you prepare to complete your paralegal studies degree, you can participate in a for-credit internship that will apply your new skills in real world settings. Where it can take you: Paralegals are always in demand. They support law offices and attorneys by conducting client interviews, researching cases, and supporting litigation. Other roles for a trained paralegal include a court clerk, legal analyst, and real estate broker.
