The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (DCIS), since its inception in May 2000, aims at imparting quality education, providing opportunities for in-depth study of computer science concepts and theories, and promoting research and development in computer and information sciences. It is offering a four-year bachelor degree program in Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) that is recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and accredited by National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC). Till now, 14 sessions have been completed successfully and 15th batch will graduate this academic year. Some of these graduates have continued further higher studies in various well-reputed universities in Pakistan and abroad. Many others have got employment in recognized public and private sector organizations. DCIS started Ph.D. program in Computer Science, in 2001, and has produced 42 graduates so far. The current enrolment of 28 students in Ph.D. shows the research standing of the department. DCIS is also offering MS Computer Science and MS Cyber Security with specialization in Computational Intelligence and Machine Vision, Scientific Computing, and Information System Security. 09 sessions of MS Computer Science and 03 sessions of MS Cyber Security have been completed successfully.

The department laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art computer systems running a wide range of software and applications supporting the courses. PIEAS campus and hostels are networked with optic fibre as backbone and computing facilities are available round the clock. The objective is to enhance the learning capabilities of students and to provide them a challenging environment for high quality education and research by developing appropriate curricula and highly qualified faculty. DCIS has a very dedicated faculty, having specialization in wide areas, such as Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Signal Processing and Scientific Computing, Network Security, Malware Analysis to name a few. We expect our graduates to possess high professional competence combined with humane and moral qualities after they finish their studies from DCIS, PIEAS.
