The Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) is one of the major departments of PIEAS in the engineering discipline. It started as a research group called Computer and Control Systems Group (C&CSG), with the main objectives of establishing research activities and training in the areas of Computer Sciences and Control Systems Engineering. The group launched the MS Systems Engineering program in 1988. PIEAS received its degree awarding status in 2000 and after that, it was separately established as the Electrical Engineering Department in 2000. The Ph.D. program was started in 1999 and until now 23 Ph.D. students have been awarded degrees in electrical engineering, and many are currently pursuing their research leading to Ph.D. The BS Electrical Engineering (BSEE) was initiated in 2007 and it was designed to meet national and international human resource requirements.
