Students admitted to the programme will normally have achieved high marks on a postgraduate degree in economics or a related field. In particular, they should have a thorough knowledge of Master's-level macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics. A good knowledge of topics in mathematics and statistical theory relevant to economics. Applications for admission should include an application form, full transcripts (showing marks for individual courses) from all undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, letters from 2 referees who can assess your academic potential, and a research proposal of no more than 1,000 words.
