About Sciences Po

Sciences Po is France's leading university in the social sciences, and has seven multicultural campuses in France. Founded in 1872, Sciences Po has been educating decision-makers in the public and private sectors for over 140 years. Half of the students are recruited internationally, and form an inter-cultural community representing 150 nationalities. 


Sciences Po offers programmes from the undergraduate to the doctorate level:

● The Undergraduate College: Students obtain a Bachelor’s degree

● Graduate Schools: Master's degrees are completed in two years in one of our seven schools, all located on the Paris campus

● Doctorates: the Sciences Po Doctoral School offers 5 PhD programmes, each corresponding to an academic discipline: Law, Economics, History, Political Sciences, Sociology


Sciences Po offers more than 60 dual degrees with French and international partners. 

Sciences Po is a research university. It contributes to knowledge and debate in five overarching disciplines: law, economics, history, political science and sociology. Through ten research units and several cross-cutting programmes, more than 270 faculty members study such as public health, education, urban development, security, the environment and democracy all over the world.

Alumni include seven French Presidents (including Emmanuel Macron), former prime Minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau, former UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, former President of the International Monetary Fund Michel Camdessus and former President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet. 80 percent of our graduates are hired within 6 months of graduation and 38 percent start their career outside of France.

The Sciences Po Undergraduate College offers a three-year Bachelor’s degree programme that includes a year abroad at one of 470 partner universities.

Our students receive a multidisciplinary and broad-based education in the humanities and social sciences and an emphasis on civic, linguistic, and artistic education, in which professional training and extra-curricular activities are strongly emphasised along with academic courses.

Fundamental education is offered across five principal disciplines: Economics, Law, History, Sociology, Political Science.

The Paris campus is home to undergraduate students who follow the general programme. The other campuses offer students the opportunity to study the challenges particular to a geographical region:

Asia at the Le Havre campus

North America and Africa on the Nancy campus

Europe and Franco-German relations on the Reims campus

Central and Eastern Europe on the Dijon campus

Latin America, Spain, and Portugal on the Poitiers campus

The Middle-East and Mediterranean on the Menton campus


Sciences Po offers 13 dual Bachelor degree programmes with leading universities around the world, including 9 international dual degrees (Columbia University, University of California in Berkeley, Freie Universität Berlin, University of Hong Kong, Keio University, National University of Singapore University of British Columbia, University College London, University of Sydney) and 6 French dual degrees.


28 two-year Master’s degree programmes, and 5 one-year Master's programmes are offered, all on the Paris campus, each with a wide choice of concentration.

They are all underpinned by the same main principles, combining fundamental knowledge, applied knowledge and practical experience, active learning and international scope.

Sciences Po also offers over 30 dual degree programmes with French and international partner universities.
