Undergraduate students at Southern Leyte State University are eligible for academic, athletic, and performance-based scholarships. Additionally, it also provides non-conventional scholarships for exceptional talents, student leadership, and governance, as well as for persons with disabilities (PWDs), and students coming from indigenous people or communities. 
Students can inquire and apply to study at Southern Leyte State University through the official website, which specifies the prerequisites for both local and international students. Students from countries other than the Philippines should utilize the online registration form and attach the necessary paperwork, which may include a passport, transcripts from their previous institutions, visas, identity declarations, and more.

To bring these various programs to greater heights, Southern Leyte State University is exerting efforts for the Internationalization of higher education. This aims to integrate international and intercultural dimensions into Higher Institution’s purpose, functions, and delivery. It allows Southern Leyte State University to share common goals, learn effective, practices from neighbouring national systems of higher education and work hand-in-hand with institutions of higher education here and abroad.

The Graduate Education at Southern Leyte State University aims to contribute to the attainment of sustainable development through advanced programs in education, technology, information science, and management.  Adaptive to the national and international standards, the graduate programs of the university equip its graduates with the 21st century skills for global competitiveness. The graduate program offerings enrich and capacitate professionals to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in their disciplines through research and/or professional practice. In the process of advancing their skills, the graduate programs allow every graduate student to fully exercise substantial independence in the exercise of leadership, innovations, initiatives, social responsibility, autonomy, and accountability.

 The advance programs in the field of education and teacher training are practice-based programs that strengthen the technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge of teacher training professionals as well as the managerial and supervisory ability of school and academic administrators. Knowledge and expertise leading toward highly proficient and distinguished educators and school managers are grounded on research and data-driven decision-making activities. 

Graduate programs on Technology and Information Science, through modern innovative technologies and artificial intelligence applications, allow faculty and students to collaboratively produce, share, and apply global and technological knowledge to advance creativity and innovation in their discipline. The program also fosters the development of advanced skills, competencies, and attitudes that increase students’ abilities to address the social and ethical issues of technological advancement and keep abreast of new and emerging technologies. Graduates in these programs are expected to become proficient IT managers and specialists showing leadership in the advancement of knowledge in information technology and technology development. 

Advance Management Programs provide industry leaders and managers a kind of experience that enriches their expertise to make decisions, plans, and programs for national development. Immersion to various organizational operations is a technique applied by the program to allow every student to experience, analyze, evaluate, and design program interventions that effectively and efficiently address management issues and problems. Through supervised conduct of research, graduates in this program are considered innovators of management styles and strategies that adopt the use of modern technology to advance operations in their organizations.  Recently, the university partnered with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as a delivering institution of the Scholarship for Staff and Instructor’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) Grant.
