Southern Utah University is one of a very few universities that offer an ABET accredited bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Architectural/Civil Design. In recent years, SUU's Architectural engineering graduates have all found jobs in their field before graduation: 100 percent employment. As a student in this program you will gain practical, hands-on experience working in SUU's two state-of-the-art labs equipped with Auto CAD, Inventor, Solid works, CATIA, and Revit software. You will become proficient in vital architectural engineering and civil design skills such as mechanical design, architectural design, civil design, layout and design, 3D solid modeling, parametric, kinematics' analysis, finite element analysis, animation analysis, rendering, rapid prototype, and other skills. One of the special strengths of the Architectural engineering program is our professors' unwavering commitment to keep the degree program industry-driven. Instructors meet regularly with industry leaders to fine tune courses to ensure they provide the skill sets needed for our students to become top- earning professionals in the field. Classes are small in the Engineering Technology: Architectural/Civil Design program, and typically include no more than 20-25 students. This allows instructors to work closely with each student, making sure that all concepts and skills are mastered and that each graduate is ready to confidently provide architectural design in a busy architectural firm. Engineering Architectural/Civil Design Studies: The SUU Engineering Technology: Architectural/Civil Design program is ideal for students who want to work in architectural design without becoming an architect. The capstone experience for this college major requires students to meet with an architectural firm and complete a design project of their choosing. This capstone project has opened doors for future jobs for a number of our architectural engineering students. Professors in the Engineering Architectural/Civil Design college program are experienced in CAD and include one instructor who continues to work in architectural design. Graduates of the architectural engineering program are also equipped to serve as civil CAD designers under the supervision of civil engineers in a civil engineering firm. Architectural/Civil Design Engineering Courses You May Take 3-D Design – Explore 3-D parametric design and modeling by employing Inventor and/or Solid Works applications. Civil Design – Learn about the concepts and tools used in land development, subdivision design, and water and sewer planning. Explore highway design and other civil design applications. Architectural Design – Gain a familiarity with architectural drawings and their uses. Study architectural practices, procedures, standards, and more.
