MA Culture in the Digital Era  examines how culture, society, and everyday life are shaped by digitalization, mediatization, and shifting boundaries between public and private spheres. This Master's trains you to analyze how digital technologies, platforms, and algorithms influence everyday cultural expressions, communication, identity, and creativity. This is a track of MA Culture Studies.

This hybrid Master’s track (online or on campus) combines developments from multiple disciplinary perspectives, including media studies, cultural and literary studies, sociology, and philosophy.

Central topics include the convergence of public and private spheres, intermediality and transmediality, participatory art and gaming practices, and new responsibilities for the Earth, as well as urgent media topics such as migration and sustainability. You will also research concrete digital-cultural practices within a broad, interdisciplinary social-theoretical framework, with a strong empirical focus.

Throughout the program, you develop strong communicative skills: writing, analyzing texts and images, interpreting cultural phenomena, and critically engaging with societal issues. You also learn to share academic insights with a wider audience through our own online platform connecting arts, digital culture, and globalization.
