The Master in Engineering (by Research) aims to provide initial training in scientific research, in the areas that are developed in our faculty. The emphasis on research distinguishes this program from course-based and other teaching activities. It is a fundamental condition for the completion of the master's degree to be linked to one of the groups or lines of research that work in the faculty. Such as: Research and innovation in software engineering, Theoretical computing, Quantum computing and computing, Artificial intelligence, Mathematics applied to telecommunications and energy, Teaching Programming, Information Systems or Geomatics. The objective of the master is for students to achieve research training through the completion of a thesis, under the supervision of one of our researchers.

Admission Requirements

  • Possess a university degree in fields related to the Master's.
  • Acceptance, by a research professor, to be the candidate's Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisor will advise the student in determining the scheduled activities to be carried out. Normally, although not necessarily, he will also be the tutor of the research activities, that is, the formulation of the thesis project and its development. The typical way of entering the program will be, in fact, through the candidate's link to a research group through one or more of its members.
People whose university degree was issued by foreign universities obtain the postgraduate degree for academic purposes only, in accordance with Resolution 001/2009 of the Directorate of Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Foreign Students

  • Students who completed a university degree abroad must present the apostilled academic title or a notarized copy of it.
  • Said certificate must be delivered to the bedelia of the corresponding postgraduate school of the ORT Uruguay University, which enables the start of postgraduate studies.
