The candidate must complete the application and submit a copy of their bachelor's degree, a copy of academic transcripts, passport photo (3 cm x 4 cm), a recommendation letter from a supervisor or superior at their workplace, a TOEFL certificate, birth certificate, and a copy of their identification card. After the candidate's application is considered eligible, the student will take a postgraduate admission examination specific to the program they have applied.

International candidates are welcome at Tarumanagara University’s postgraduate school. A foreign candidate should submit an application with the following documents: passport photo (3 cm x 4 cm), passport, financial statement declaring the ability to finance tuition fees and living expenses while in Indonesia, a physician issued medical statement declaring the candidate is free of serious health issues, a letter of representation declaring the candidate is independent of any political activities and has not received a scholarship from the Indonesian government, a letter of acceptance from UNTAR (or an MoU for exchange students), and a letter of study request. An international candidate must also take a written examination measuring their competence in a specific area of study. Upon passing the admission examination, they will receive a letter of acceptance.

Each semester has a tuition fee which may differ from one study program to another. For a new student who has a degree in a different area of study, they will need to take a matriculation class.  Matriculation fees differ between graduate programs and doctorate programs.  Doctorate program matriculation fees are higher than master program fees.
