Academic background
• You must hold a secondary-school diploma equivalent in level and content to the Dutch VWO diploma. Mathematics must be one of your final-exam subjects, passed with a sufficient grade.
• Use the Diploma Finder: enter your country or diploma, review the basic diploma requirement (minimum entry standard for all applicants), then check any extra/alternative programme-specific requirements, including mathematics level, grades, entry tests, or other academic conditions.
• If your qualification is not listed, you may still apply; your documents will be assessed individually.

Mathematics proficiency
• Because the programme includes rigorous mathematics and statistics, your prior education must show adequate mathematics preparation. The Admissions Office evaluates sufficiency after you submit a complete application.
• Applicants who do not yet meet the stated mathematics level may complete an approved Mathematics A certificate course (unless already mandatory for your diploma type). Accepted providers include:
– CCVX Mathematics A
– State Exam (in Dutch; registration deadline 31 December)
– James Boswell Bèta Mathematics A Certificate
– Korteweg-de Vries Mathematics A Certificate
• Register before the application deadline and upload proof of registration to your application.
• OMPT-F is accepted for this programme with a minimum score of 60%; only one attempt is permitted.

HBO-propedeuse (HBO-p) applicants
• Holders (or expected holders) of a Dutch HBO-p may apply if their mathematics is at VWO Mathematics A or B level. If not, obtain a Mathematics A certificate to remedy the deficiency.

English language proficiency (CEFR C1)
• Non-EU applicants must submit a valid English-language test unless exempt via prior education. All students must be able to read textbooks, follow lectures, join discussions, and complete written work in English.
• Exemptions from testing:
– Full English-taught secondary education in Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
– International Baccalaureate with English as an IB exam subject.
– European Baccalaureate with English as first or second language (minimum final score 6).
– French Diplôme du Baccalauréat Général with BFI/OIB (British or American section).

If not covered above, consult the Diploma Finder to confirm whether your prior education waives the test.
• Approved tests and minimum scores:
– TOEFL iBT: total 92, with ≥22 in each subscore (institution code 9011).
– IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, with ≥6.0 in each subscore. (IELTS Indicator not accepted.)
– Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: overall 180, with ≥180 per skill.
Other versions/modules (e.g., IELTS One Skill Retake, TOEFL Home Edition, TOEFL MyBest) are not accepted.
• Score validity: tests must be less than two years old counted from programme start. For September 2025 entry, tests taken before September 2023 are not accepted. Scores received after the application deadline are acceptable if the test date itself was before the deadline.
