This taught masters degree programme is designed for the professional development of teachers. If you already have experience in language teaching, the MTESOL will enable you to develop knowledge and skills for employment as a language teacher or in a more senior role. You may be able to complete some of the courses towards your degree online. Completing the MTESOL does not qualify you to teach in state schools in New Zealand. Other related programmes include the Postgraduate Diploma in Language Teaching and the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics. If you already have experience in language teaching, the MTESOL will enable you to develop knowledge and skills for employment as a language teacher or in a more senior role. You can better understand the problems that second or foreign language learners face when learning a new language, and apply this knowledge to improve your teaching practice.
