Founded in 1966, the University of Bath is a top 10 UK university with a reputation for both research and teaching excellence. We're highly ranked in national league tables for overall performance, student satisfaction and graduate employment.

At Bath, we offer a superb learning experience in a lively and welcoming community and provide outstanding preparation for the workplace. We'll support your academic and personal journey, helping you to develop lifelong skills and qualities. We believe that thinking and acting globally benefits everyone and we welcome students and staff from across the world. 32% of our students come from outside the UK, representing over 147 nationalities.

Our thriving campus overlooks the beautiful city of Bath and offers a choice of sporting, social and cultural activities.

Research and teaching excellence

We want to make sure that our students develop the practical knowledge and skills most valued by employers. Our graduates are highly sought after and, in 2019, 89% of our full-time UK domiciled graduates were in high-skilled employment 15 months after leaving university. We were ranked 6th for graduate prospects by the Complete University Guide 2023 and 7th by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022.

Our teaching is informed by our research, which means our students are taught the latest practices and theories by experts in their fields. 92% of our research submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 is world leading or internationally excellent, so your studies will be informed by some of the most exciting and innovative ideas across all fields.

The campus and the city

It’s easy to love living and studying at Bath. In the last decade, we have invested over £450 million in our campus and facilities in the city. This includes new student accommodation and academic buildings, plus an expansion of our world-class Sports Training Village - with its 50m Olympic legacy swimming pool, Gym and Fitness Centre over three floors, tennis courts, and athletics tracks.

Explore beyond the campus and it’s easy to see why the city of Bath is the UK’s only entire city on UNESCO’s world heritage list thanks to the Gothic abbey, elegant Georgian architecture, and Roman Baths, which give the city its name. Whether you’re out shopping or socialising, Bath offers an impressive range of options and, in 2020, it was ranked as the second safest university city in England and Wales by the Complete University Guide.

Beyond Bath

Bath is a convenient gateway to the beautiful South West of England, and it’s easy to  explore the region from the train and coach stations in the city centre. You could visit the wild Jurassic coastline of Dorset and Devon, surf in Cornwall, or visit the nearby cities of Bristol and Cardiff. If you want to travel further afield, you can get direct trains and coaches to London, Birmingham, and Heathrow Airport.
