Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) are registered Health Professionals that are specifically trained and work within the Operating Department and associated areas. Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) are a vital part of the operating department team and are responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to surgical patients during  the three phases of perioperative care; anaesthesia, surgery and PACU perioperative care setting. On this programme you will learn to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside other professionals, such as nurses, surgeons, anaesthetists and healthcare support workers. You will study the core subjects of anatomy,  physiology, and pathology in order to apply these to clinical situations. Students will learn to work with specialist equipment and develop high levels of technical skills in managing patients throughout the preoperative care setting.
