The programme delivers a broad introduction to the fundamental principles of conservation biology. Through small group work, you will engage with a range of current issues at the interface between wildlife conservation and the health and welfare of animals in the wild and in zoos.
An individually-tailored research project will constitute a significant part of the course, providing you with robust, scientific skills in research design, implementation and interpretation. You will also have the option either to conduct an investigation of animal welfare and management at Chester Zoo, focusing on a species of particular interest to you or to arrange an external work-experience placement at a conservation-related establishment of your choice.
You will be based at the School of Veterinary Science's Leahurst Campus on the beautiful Wirral peninsula, and also benefit from expertise in conservation biology at our main campus in Liverpool city centre.
