Deepen your knowledge in a chosen area of specialisation and gain the practical training needed for a rewarding career as a fully registered practising psychologist.
Choose your professional pathway based on your career aspirations, and tailor your program with one of 3 specialisations:
- Health psychology - Support individuals and effect change across the population through interventions that address both physical and mental health.
- Counselling psychology - Gain a deep understanding of relationships, grief and family dynamics, and build expertise in supporting clients through life transitions, interpersonal challenges and fostering connection.
- Sport and exercise psychology - Join high-performance sport environments and work with elite athletes and teams to integrate psychology into peak performance and rehabilitation.
You'll complete a range of advanced coursework in your chosen specialisation, an applied psychology research project supervised by highly trained staff, and specialist and generalist placements.
You’ll learn in small, personalised tutorial group settings and undertake 1,000 hours of supervised clinical placements in a diverse range of organisations, including community service, government, hospitals, healthcare providers and private practice.
During this 2-year full-time program, you’ll develop core professional competencies, including skills in counselling, behaviour change and psychological assessment. You'll also understand the ethical issues and professional standards relevant to the practice of psychology.
The program is recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia as providing suitable training towards eligibility for general registration as a psychologist. This program has full accreditation with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for entry, you'll need:
- An approved 4-year bachelor degree in psychology (I or IIA honours) or equivalent 4-year APAC-accredited program.
Applicants must be eligible for provisional or if applicable, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.Applicants with non-Australian degrees must have their qualifications assessed by the APS.
Applicants must also submit (via the Online Application):
- an Additional Application Information Form;
- you must have at least two completed referee reports in the Psychology Reference Portal (see additional information for applicants below);
- relevant academic transcripts, and a CV.
Applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander who meet the minimum entry requirements for this program will be offered an interview. On admission to the program, you will need to provide evidence of your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status.
