During our 3-year program, you'll discover the latest in globally relevant biomedical practices, and gain the theoretical and hands-on skills needed to prepare yourself for a dynamic career in modern medical science.

Biomedical scientists provide the foundation of modern healthcare and assist in developing treatments for diseases.

As a biomedical science student at UQ, your courses will cover the fundamentals of cell and molecular biology, through to the anatomy and physiology of body systems. You'll learn the scientific process through activities ranging from experimental design to computer modelling, and you’ll gain plenty of hands-on experience in the lab.

You can explore what a career in research might be like by participating in Summer or Winter Research Programs, or by undertaking a small research project in your third year.

Our cutting-edge teaching laboratories are equipped with over $15 million worth of research infrastructure, making them some of the best in the country. This includes UQ’s Gross Anatomy Facility, one of Australia’s leading teaching and research facilities for studying anatomy. You will also have access to the Integrated Pathology Learning Centre (IPLC), which houses over 5,000 human pathology specimens.
