Read ancient texts in their original form and learn how languages – ancient and modern – develop and function. Whether or not you have experience of studying ancient languages, you can develop an advanced knowledge of Latin and Ancient Greek, engaging directly with the words written by ancient authors. You will take core modules in both languages in all three years of the degree. The wide range of expertise within the Department of Classics means that we offer optional modules on many other aspects of the ancient world. You can choose to take a modern foreign language too – Classics students often find this complements their study of Latin and Ancient Greek.
