This Midwifery degree covers all aspects of normal midwifery, complicated childbearing, and postnatal care. It also explores issues such as health promotion, public health, law and ethics, and professional issues. Midwifery is a skills-based profession and development of one’s practical skills is an important part of this midwifery course. Students of this Midwifery training will attain experience on clinical placements in several local health boards, each lasting several weeks. Students will develop knowledge and abilities to provide holistic care and some of these skills in will be obtained in the Clinical Simulation Centre on campus, or on clinical placements in midwifery and other specialist areas. For UK students, the course fees will be paid by the Welsh Government. Successful completion of this course allows registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a qualified (registered) midwife.
