The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is a dynamic, Australian university, dedicated to providing high-quality programs and degrees in a flexible and supportive environment. With a student population representing over 90 nationalities, USQ is per capita the most multicultural university in Australia, and we are proud to be a leading university for student experience and graduate outcomes.

Key to our research culture is working with industry to understand the problems they face, and collaboratively develop new ideas and technologies that deliver tangible benefits. Our researchers are supporting industry in a number of key research sectors, including:

  • Agriculture
  • Space and defence
  • Health
  • Regional development

Particular strengths that underpin our cutting-edge research are in materials science and engineering, climate sciences, machine vision and automation and archaeology, and these are supported by a wide range of disciplines in the sciences, humanities, education and the creative arts.

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has three campus locations in Queensland: Toowoomba, Springfield and Ipswich. In Toowoomba, students can enjoy the full on-campus experience living in one of three residential colleges; with access to sporting and social clubs, a 24-hour access gym and a world class tennis centre to complement their academic degree. Our Springfield campus is a vibrant and modern campus, the digital production and performance hub including state-of-the-art television studio, radio station and rehearsal spaces and collaborative teaching rooms, and new engineering laboratories. Ipswich is home to USQ’s health degrees offering a custom-built paramedical training facility, clinical nursing laboratories, a midwifery simulation centre and sport and exercise clinic.

USQ's world-class research institutes, centres and faculties are home to unique state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Mt Kent Observatory which is a key part of NASA’s planet hunting missions in the Southern Hemisphere, and contemporary glasshouses and an on-site farm underpinning agricultural research. With modern facilities, a relatively low cost of living and easy access to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, you can make the most of your studies in Australia with USQ.

Life at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is exciting, supportive and offers endless possibilities and connections with fellow students. We are proud to foster an inclusive environment that embraces difference and supports values and respects the unique perspectives and approaches of all individuals.

There are plenty of ways to get involved, build your skills, meet other students, and have fun. Make life-long friends in the student clubs, play sport, go to formals, theme parks, and more. If you’re an elite athlete, we will also support you to achieve all your dreams in our elite athlete program – with flexible study options to accommodate events and scholarships to provide financial support.
