About Urmia University of Technology

Urmia University of Technology has been established in 2006. The vision of  University is to achieve the level of developed universities in all aspects, achieving the latest scientific and technological findings, also to build a research-centered flow of technical decision-making, providing all the disciplines needed by the industrial and mining sector in the northwest of the country, activating student admission in postgraduate studies, upgrading to the status of an international university, attracting students from foreign countries, and providing scientific and research services to neighboring countries.

The main goals of establishing Urmia University of Technology are to enhance the province's cultural and scientific status and increase its effective role in the country’s scientific aspects, also to develop the province's higher education and improve the student share, increase the share of students in technical and engineering fields, strengthen the connection between the industry and mining sector and the higher education sector, accelerate and facilitate the development of the province's industrial sector and train specialized human resources, implement policies to eliminate deprivation in the region, and help transform the province from an input-based economy to a productivity-based economy. Urmia University of Technology has 5 faculties (including Mechanical Engineering - Mineral Industries and Technologies - Sciences and Modern Technologies - Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials - Khoy Faculty of Engineering ), 1 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, 14 undergraduate programs, 22 master programs and 2 doctoral programs. The university has  2148 undergraduate students, 521 master's students, 33 doctoral students, and 503 foreign students.  There are a total of 19 different departments in the faculties of university.

For national candidates admission to a major in our university is based upon the performance of them in the Iranian University Entrance Exam (Konkoor/Concours) – it is the Standard means of entry to universities in Iran. Candidates must have previously taken this exam and have achieved the minimum passing score required to study in this major at Urmia University of Technology. International candidates for Bachelor's/Master's/ doctoral degree studies do not need to take the entrance exam. They only must have a minimum grade point average of 60 on a 100 scale in their high school diploma/ undergraduate/ and Master in their home country.
